October cake

It has been a while since I have blogged, but I am back! Here is a cake that I made in October. White cake with a blue ribbon.
**From the Happy Bride:
I just received my cake ornament in the mail and I'm absolutely blown away -- it's amazing!! I'm so glad I chose you to make this ornament (I'd done my research and looked at a few other options), because it's 10 times better than I ever imagined. It's perfect--every little detail is there, done perfectly to scale. I love that looks EXACTLY like our cake! Thank you again! I'm definitely telling my friends and family about you!

Groom's Cake- Sports

Beautiful Cake

This is one of the more detailed cakes that I made this season. It had 2 different colors of grey ribbons, glitter glass for the sparkle, and an antique rhinestone. I’m sure the real cake was just stunning.

Polar Bear Cake

Yes, this was one of the more interesting cakes that I received. At first glance, I thought- Awesome- a cake with zero flowers. How hard can a few polar bears be? I was wrong. It took a several tries to get both bears to the same size and scale, but was very happy with the out come.

New Year, New Posts

So, after a busy cake season, I figured that I needed to start posting some pictures of the cakes. This was a beautiful and challenging cake that came to me after Christmas. I wasn't sure how to make the delicate snowflakes. At first, I made molds from some small snowflake stamps, but after many, many attempts, It just looked heavy on the cake. So...after several hours... and many different techniques, I finally came up with one that worked. It turned out better than I expected.
